How to Collect Every Guest's Wedding Photos

Updated 2 November 2026 · by Chun Meng, founder of GlowRoll

Your photographer covers the ceremony and the portraits. Your guests cover everything else: the friends at table 12, the speech from the side, the dance floor at midnight. The hard part is getting those photos back from a hundred phones. Here are the five usual ways, and what each is good and bad at.

1. A group chat (WhatsApp, WeChat, Telegram)

Free, and everyone already has it. But chat apps compress photos, the pictures get buried between messages, and most guests never send theirs. Fine for a small dinner, weak for a wedding.

2. A shared album (Google Photos, iCloud)

Keeps good quality and puts everything in one place. Guests usually need an account on the same service, and older relatives often get stuck at the sign-in. Every photo also shows up the moment it is added, so there is no surprise.

3. A wedding hashtag

Easy to print on a sign, but you only get what guests post publicly, at social-media quality, mixed with strangers' posts that use the same tag.

4. Disposable cameras on the tables

Fun, and the wait for the prints is part of the charm. They cost money per camera, many come back half used or not at all, and developing takes days. Low light at a dinner reception is hard on them.

5. A QR code photo app

Guests scan a QR code on the table card and take photos straight into one shared gallery, usually without installing anything. This keeps the quality and gets photos from guests who would never send them afterwards.

GlowRoll is one of these, built to feel like a disposable camera: every guest shoots into one shared roll with a set number of shots, nobody sees the photos until the reveal time you choose (for example the morning after), and then everyone sees the whole roll together. The Wedding Roll has 1,000 shots for about 100 guests, keeps full-quality originals and costs RM199.90 once, with no subscription. Guests need no app or account.

Tips, whichever you choose

Chun Meng

App
